To commemorate the 16 Days of Activism 2023, in the climax I joined & contributed to a procession caravan in Kibera Slums in Kenya, hosted by Polycom Development Project where we voiced out on ending all forms of #GBV

Female Genital Mutilation (FGM) is internationally recognized as a gross violation of the human rights of girls and women. This harmful practice offers no health benefits and remains a pressing concern across the globe. Currently, more than 200 million girls and women have undergone the harmful practice and endured the consequences of FGM. While there has been progress over the past three decades, with girls today being one-third less likely to undergo FGM compared to 30 years ago, challenges persist due to rapid population growth in some of the world's most impoverished nations where FGM remains prevalent.
Objectives:
To explore and analyze the innovative strategies and initiatives spearheaded by young activists in the fight against Female Genital Mutilation (FGM) in Africa, emphasizing their impact and effectiveness on the ground.
To assess the specific impact of FGM on youth, especially those living with disabilities, considering the unique challenges and vulnerabilities they face in communities where FGM is practiced.
To issue a call to action, mobilizing stakeholders at all levels—youth activists, governments, international organizations, and communities—to take concrete steps towards ending FGM, with a focus on youth-led initiatives and strategies as a driving force for change.

The 2023 SDG Summit took place on 18-19 September 2023 in New York. It marked the beginning of a new phase of accelerated progress towards the Sustainable Development Goals with high-level political guidance on transformative and accelerated actions leading up to 2030. Convened by the President of the General Assembly, the Summit marked the half-way point to the deadline set for achieving the 2030 Agenda and the Sustainable Development Goals. It was the centerpiece of the High-level Week of the General Assembly. It responded to the impact of multiple and interlocking crises facing the world and is expected to reignite a sense of hope, optimism, and enthusiasm for the 2030 Agenda. It is in this spirit that we are having an SDG POST SUMMIT for the youth. The Eastern and Southern Africa (ESA) region accounts for the largest share of the global burden of HIV among young people and some of the highest rates of adolescent pregnancy. Much progress has been made in the HIV and Sexual and Reproductive Health Rights (SRHR) response however, despite being recognized as a priority, adolescents and young people (AYP) continue to be left behind. AIDS is still the no.1 cause of death of adolescents in 12 countries in ESA and almost six times as many adolescent girls were newly infected with HIV than adolescent boys. Over one in four young women give birth before age 18 in our region. One in three girls is still getting married by age 18, and almost one in six young women experience gender-based violence. Much work remains to ensure the full, healthy lives of AYP in ESA.
Purpose
To provide a platform for linking, learning, and exchange among youth-led SRH, HIV and AGYW networks
in ESA to accelerate a youth-led movement and social accountability towards HIV and SRHR
commitments.
